Last week I was commissioned by the lovely Hannah to create a bespoke Heart drawing. She wanted the names of her children and husband included in the design. What a lovely idea and then I thought about symbols and their meanings.
In my research I came across the West African symbols called Adinkra. Adinkra are visual symbols, originally created by the Akan, that
represent concepts or aphorisms. Adinkra are used extensively in
fabrics, pottery, logos and advertising. They are incorporated into
walls and other architectural features. you can find out more about them here.
I have called Hannah's heart - Love is at the Heart of Family.
